What You Should Know...
About Nerve Fiber Analysis

Nerve Fiber Analysis

A scanning laser is used to measure the thickness of the nerve fiber layer around the optic nerve.  The results are compared to a “normal” profile of someone your age, as well as to any previous tests you’ve had.  The test will detect any damage to the nerve fiber layer due to glaucoma.  This process is painless and takes approximately 5 minutes.  Since your eyes do not have to be dilated, you will be able to drive after the testing – provided you are not having another dilated test on the same day.   Nerve Fiber Analysis is done at all offices with the exception of Middleboro.
