What You Should Know About...
Laser Refractive Eye Surgery

Eyeglasses and contact lenses are optical solutions to correct “refractive errors” – the blurring and focus distortion associated with myopia or nearsightedness, hyperopia or farsightedness, astigmatismand presbyopia.  Over time, some people become frustrated with relying on these optical solutions.  If you are one of them, there are exciting laser and refractive surgery options to make you less dependent on wearing glasses or contact lenses.  These options include:

  • LASIK Eye Surgery – the most common type of laser vision correction performed around the world to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism

  • PRK or Photorefractive Keratectomy –  a laser vision correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism for patients who may not be good candidates for LASIK

  • Implantable Collamer Lenses – implanting an ICL (also known as phakic intraocular lens) to correct moderate to severe nearsightedness without removing your natural lens.  ICL options include the Verisyse® and the STAAR® Visian ICL.

Our board certified ophthalmologists, who specialize in laser and refractive surgeries, perform these outpatient procedures at our conveniently located Plymouth Laser & Surgery Center.
